Oracle 12c R2 (12.2.0.1) – GI installation for Single Instance Without & With ASM

This blog post will demonstrate how to install Grid Infrastructure for a standalone server (Oracle Restart) with and without the Automatic Storage Management (ASM) component. Unfortunately the Oracle Universal Installer does not provide a method to skip the configuration of ASM. To get rid of ASM part, the only way is to perform a software-only installation and run the necessary configuration manually. Oracle 12c – SYS/SYSTEM accounts are incorrectly listed in DBA_USERS_WITH_DEFPWD

After creation of a new 12c database, the SYS and SYSTEM accounts are listed in DBA_USERS_WITH_DEFPWD even though the accounts were created with non-default passwords. Setting the same passwords again with ALTER USER correctly recognises that the accounts do not have default passwords. ODC Appreciation Day: Moving Datafiles Online

First of all, I would like to thanks OTN/ODC community for helping us to connect with like-minded people. Also thanks to Tim Hall for setting all of us for sharing some content with Oracle community.

Even though Oracle 12c brought a lot of new features and changes but online datafile movement is one of my favorite feature. For years, moving datafiles was a pain for DBA’s and involved other teams (OS and application) as well in completing the datafile re-location. But not anymore now.
