Oracle 12R2 – Local Undo Switch

From 12.2 onwards,  each container in an instance can use its own undo table space and this is called local undo mode. In previous release, all containers in an instance shared the same undo table space in multitenant set up.

Today I upgraded, container database from 12.1 -> 12.2 via DBUA and looked at the UNDO setting. Found that we have to manually switch the undo modes for upgraded instances. So here are the steps. Continue reading → Oracle 12R2 – Local Undo Switch

Oracle 12.2 RDBMS – TFA is optional

Oracle Trace File Analyzer helps you perform real-time health monitoring, fault detection & diagnosis via a single interface. It will securely consolidate all distributed diagnostic data. TFA can be installed on the database nodes either stand alone or cluster nodes. It’s continuously available and watching your logs for significant problems that may affect your service. If desired it can also automatically collect the relevant diagnostics, when it sees these problems.

Oracle 12c R2 (12.2.0.1) – GI installation for Single Instance Without & With ASM

This blog post will demonstrate how to install Grid Infrastructure for a standalone server (Oracle Restart) with and without the Automatic Storage Management (ASM) component. Unfortunately the Oracle Universal Installer does not provide a method to skip the configuration of ASM. To get rid of ASM part, the only way is to perform a software-only installation and run the necessary configuration manually.
